Maple Heights police chase ends in 3-car accident

MAPLE HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) - A car chase in Maple Heights early Thursday morning ended in a three car accident, sending all three drivers to the hospital, police say.

Maple Heights police say they were involved in a pursuit of a gray Jeep Cherokee that had committed multiple violations.

The pursuit started near the Broadway Avenue and Libby Road intersection and and continued into Cleveland’s Lee Harvard neighborhood, officials say.

A second cruiser following the chase struck an uninvolved vehicle after swerving in an attempt to avoid collision, police say.

Police say the cruiser veered into a Rally’s parking lot and struck another car before rolling onto its side.

All three drivers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

The Maple Heights Police Department is looking for information on the driver of the gray Jeep Cherokee with heavy tint and a loud exhaust. It is believed this vehicle had been involved in other illegal activity in Garfield Heights and Cleveland prior to this pursuit.
