Man arrested on murder charges for deadly shooting in Manteca neighborhood, police say
A man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in a Manteca neighborhood on Monday, according to police.
The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. in the 800 block of Mono Street near Azebedo Avenue, police said. The man who died was found lying in the roadway.
Details of what led up to the shooting were not released.
During the investigation, an officer found a person that matched the description of one of the suspects involved several blocks away.
That person was detained, and police later found he had been directly involved in the shooting.
The suspect was arrested on murder charges, police said.
Police added that although an arrest was made, the investigation remains active.
On Thursday, police said a second person was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting. Troy Lewis, 21, helped in the murder by trying to hide evidence, according to the police department.
After securing a warrant, SWAT team members searched a home Lewis was believed to be staying at, police said. There, they said they found evidence linking Lewis to the murder investigation.
Lewis faces aiding and abetting charges, and was transported to the San Joaquin County Jail on a $50,000 bail.
