Mansfield police said Monday that a situation that caused some tense moments in an apartment complex overnight was resolved peacefully.
Police were called to an Erick Road address Sunday night to do a well-being check after a 911 call.
Officers were unable to make contact with the person inside, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council was called in as backup.
"Out of an abundance of caution, neighboring housing units were evacuated and a 'shelter in place' emergency alert was broadcast," a release said.
MetroLEC was also unable to communicate with the subject, and a robot and a drone were deployed.
"The robot entered and searched the first floor of the residence," the release said. "During this time, the subject came to the front door and surrendered to police without incident."
Police said the person was taken to a hospital for an evaluation. No charges have been filed.
No one was hurt.
