As first Potbelly opening nears, second Jacksonville shop in the works
As the highly anticipated first Potbelly Sandwich Works prepares to open its first Jacksonville restaurant in Deerwood Village, plans are moving ahead for a second restaurant. Franchise owner Patrick Prendergast says the popular Chicago-based restaurant chain will open its second location at 13529 Beach Blvd., Suite 101, at Hodges Station shopping center, in the Intracoastal West area. A June opening is targeted. "We've already got our permitting in for Store Two. We're already going out for bid. I would say June would be the ideal time," he said. The Deerwood Village and Hodges Station locations are among seven Potbelly restaurants planned for the Jacksonville area. Prendergast said they are scouting out the other five locations. The Hodges Station and Deerwood Village restaurants are about the same size, but the second restaurant will have an added convenience for diners: a drive-thru. "The great thing about Hodges Station is that the store is going to have a drive-thru," Prendergast said, noting that drive-thru options are scarce on Beach Boulevard. "We found a great spot. It's an easy drive-thru, and we think it is going to be very appreciated," he said. The restaurant is taking over and renovating about a 1,700-square-foot space vacated

Jacksonville Beach Joe’s Swapped For Bubba Gump As Crab Shack Chain Keeps Shrinking
Another Joe’s Crab Shack has fallen off the map, with Landry’s shutting down its Jacksonville Beach location and converting it into a Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., trimming the once ubiquitous crab-bucket chain to roughly 14 restaurants nationwide. A brand that used to feel like it was everywhere, noisy servers and all, has been steadily whittled down after years of quiet closures and corporate reshuffling, as casual-dining seafood players pull back and rethink where they plant their flags.
