Man identified who was arrested after 9-hour standoff with police in Brighton Towers
Syracuse, N.Y. — A 58-year-old man who barricaded himself in a Brighton Towers apartment in Syracuse with a weapon for more than 9 hours Wednesday has been identified. The man is Derreon L. Riley, who was arrested around 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse City Court.

The state Department of Motor Vehicles is taking it on the road in order to help New Yorkers get their Real ID cards. Starting next year, you’ll need a federally compliant Real ID driver license, learner’s permit or non-driver ID card in order to fly domestically or to enter military bases or certain federal buildings.
