Freddy’s Steakburgers planning second NoVa location

Fans of Freddy’s Steakburgers who have been making the drive to Fairfax, take heart — a new location is in the works in Northern Virginia. It will be coming to Manassas — to a location just a short distance south of Interstate 66.

If you’re not familiar — the full name is Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. The brand was founded in 2002 in Wichita, Kansas and quickly became famous for its smashed steakburgers, its skinny fries, and its shakes and sundaes made with fresh churned frozen custard.

Today there are more than 450 locations around the United States, but until now, there has been only one in Northern Virginia. The lone local Freddy’s is on Fairfax Boulevard, about three miles from the George Mason University campus.

Now comes word of a new store in the works on Ashton Avenue in Manassas. The Freddy’s will reportedly be built on a vacant parcel of land next to a Sheetz convenience store and a Lidl grocery store.

No word so far on any other Freddy’s locations planned for NoVa, but the company is actively expanding around the country and even into Canada. So local fans can keep their fingers crossed.
