Lightning strike causes shop fire in Geneva County, EMA

GENEVA COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — Multiple crews are rushing to the scene of a shop fire in Malvern.

Geneva County EMA Director Brian Smith says a shop behind a house was struck by lightning during Tuesday’s storms and caught fire.

A Geneva County EMA alert states there are gas canisters and equipment in the shop.

The home is located in the Malvern area at 098 County Road 68.

Multiple crews from Geneva County have responded to the scene. Houston County EMA has also been alerted to the situation and is responding.

No injuries have been reported.
