Thieves target nearly 2 dozen luxury vehicles along PCH in Malibu, residents say

Alarming video captured thieves breaking into a Range Rover at a Malibu home, leaving residents fearing for their safety.

The incident happened over Memorial Day weekend near Las Flores Canyon Road.

A woman, who wished to be identified only as Lea, said she was having a party at the beach home when the thieves broke in. She said the thieves targeted nearly two dozen vehicles in the area.

"The whole PCH ... 20 cars, Range Rovers, Mercedes, everything. It was insane," she said.

The crime, which was captured by a home surveillance camera, shows the thieves pull up in a gray Toyota Prius.

They then take time to scope Lea's Range Rover first. Then, one of them tries to smash the driver's side window but then moves to the rear side window.

They suddenly break in and begin to rummage through the backseat. They ended up taking a purse and sunglasses.

As the suspects' vehicle backs up, another thief jumps out and goes for Lea's friend's car. Then, the crime repeats down the road.

"They knew what they were doing," said Lea. "They planned this for, like, a while. It's like the Malibu bling ring."

She said the suspects were wearing gloves and masks. One of them even looked right at her surveillance camera.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has picked up the case.

Lea and other victims hope the suspects are caught soon.

"This is not OK," she said. "This doesn't happen. It's rude at this point. I hope these guys will get caught."

Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
