Baseball Meets No. 14 Southern Arkansas in Midweek

COVERAGE LINKS

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Henderson State will take a break from conference action while still seeing a familiar foe in No. 14 Southern Arkansas in what will be the fourth meeting this season. First pitch from Magnolia, Arkansas, is scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 21 at 6 p.m.

REDDIES REPORT (15-11, 8-7 GAC)
After picking up the first game in the weekend series against Southeastern Oklahoma State, 11-10, HSU fell in the Saturday doubleheader to drop its first three-game series against the Savage Storm since 2017. Dropping two of three now puts the Reddies in a five-way tie for fourth in the league standings at 8-7.

Logan Cowart delivered his best weekend performance of his collegiate career from a hitting standpoint, recording three home runs, including two in the 11-10 game-one victory. As a whole, Cowart went 5-of-12 at the plate for six RBIs, with a slugging percentage of 1.167 thanks to the three long-balls.

Kaden Argenbright used six hits this past weekend to move into the second on the program's all-time hits list with 196; 30 behind current teammate Greyson Stevens. This is the first time in program history that two teammates have sat atop the Top-10 all-time hits list.

Earlier in the season when Henderson and then-No. 9 Southern Arkansas met at Clyde Berry Field for a three-game series, the Reddies claimed their biggest two wins of the season, downing the Muleriders in the first two games to clinch the weekend outing. Pitcher Ryan Galvan earned GAC Pitcher of the Week honors after getting the win in game one.

SCOUTING NO. 14 SOUTHERN ARKANSAS (18-7, 11-4 GAC)
Since losing those two games to Henderson, SAU has strung together four consecutive victories, including a three-game sweep of Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma, by a combined score of 40-16. The Muleriders have only lost inside Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field twice this season, once of which came in a midweek game against Arkansas Tech.

Reigning National Pitcher of the Year Jeremy Adorno, since suffering his first collegiate loss of his career against Henderson, has made one appearance on the bump. Adorno returned to his familiar winning ways after giving up just three hits and two runs in seven innings of work against Southern Nazarene as part of SAU's 5-4 game-one win.

Senior infielder Riley Orr continues to lead the team after hitting .425 in 24 games played, while Brandon Nicoll has 33 hits and 33 RBIs to pace the club in both categories. Orr went 4-for-8 in the first three meetings against the Reddies, including two hits in each of the final two games.
