The Crook County High School baseball team continues to roll through the Tri-Valley Conference.

A third of the way through league action, the Cowboys are still undefeated after rolling past the homestanding Madras White Buffalos 24-7 Wednesday afternoon in Madras.

The Cowboys continue to hit well, finishing with 12 hits on the day. Coupled with eight walks, seven Madras errors and three hit batters that gave the Cowboys plenty of scoring opportunities and they took advantage, scoring five runs in the first, seven in the second and a 13th run in the third, before exploding for 11 runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Four Cowboys had multiple hits on the day, including Tyis Yustat with a triple and a single, Tyson Martinez a single and a double along with Cody Kurtz and Hayden Forman, who each had a pair of singles. Austin Vaughan had just one hit in the game for the Cowboys, but it was a home run. Other Cowboys to get singles were Clayton Dill, Ethan Lamphere, and Zach Allen.

Tyson Martinez started on the mound for Crook County, pitching three innings, allowing two hits and walking one, while giving up an unearned run. Martinez also struck out four batters. Carson Knudtson pitched the final two innings for the Cowboys, giving up eight hits, walking one and hitting three batters, while giving up four earned runs and striking out one.

Madras starting pitcher Tyler Clarkson gave up four hits, six walks and 12 runs, six of them earned in two innings of work. Bentley Stockton then pitched one and two thirds innings, giving up eight hits and 12 runs, just three of them earned. He was followed by Dasen Rodriguez, who pitched one and a third innings, not allowing a hit in the contest.

With the win, Crook County is now 11-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play, while Madras falls to 8-7 overall and 1-4 in league.

The two teams face each other again Thursday, April 18 in Prineville with game time scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
