WEST VIRGINIA (LOOTPRESS) – A regional DEP planner and inspector has been indicted and pled guilty to embezzling nearly 95,000 dollars.
According to court documents, Jerry Elkins was employed as DEP regional planner and inspector from 2018 to 2019. Â He was authorized to act on behalf of the DEP as an agent. Â From October 2018 to August 2019, in Charleston and Madison, WV, Elkins embezzled $94,197.93 of DEP funds and diverted the monies to himself and his company, Wanaque.
Elkins pleaded guilty today in court and was given a 10,000 dollar secured bond. Â He will have a sentencing hearing on October 12, 2023, at 10 am.
