HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas — A routine traffic stop in the Gun Barrel City area of Henderson County on Friday led to a drug-related arrest. The driver, identified as Hayden Parks, was pulled over by Deputy Jared Mills of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office. A female passenger, whose identity has not been disclosed, was also present in the vehicle.

SHREVEPORT, LA - A road rage incident on I-20 in northeast Texas leaves a Louisiana woman dead. The incident happened earlier this week in Van Zandt County. 31-year-old Caitlin Elizabeth of Baton Rouge was shot and killed while she was a passenger in a car on the interstate. Deputies believe a truck driver opened fire on the car Elizabeth was in. She was hit in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A severe accident took place in Athens, Texas, where a train and a car collided. The incident, which happened at 11:30 AM on Monday at North Wofford and East Edmonson's intersection, caused serious injuries to one individual.

Stock photoA crash with a pickup killed a Van Zandt County motorcyclist over the weekend. It occurred on FM 279 east of Edom. Troopers say 58-year-old Lewis Woods Roy of Ben Wheeler was traveling west when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck the pickup in the eastbound lane. He died at the scene. The driver of the pickup had nonincapacitating injuries.

Sep. 25—VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — A Danville man was charged with murder on Sept. 19 following a deadly shooting on Interstate 20 in Van Zandt County, Texas. Jason Rashad Williams was booked into the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office Detention Center on a $1.75 million bond in connection with the victim's death, according to a news release from the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office. In addition to murder, Williams was also charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

HENDERSON COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - First responders were called out to the Cedar Branch Park subdivision near Payne Springs due to a drowning Thursday night. According to Payne Springs Fire Rescue, crews were alerted for a possible drowning at about 8:04 p.m. A man had reportedly been doing construction work at a nearby home, then went for a swim in the lake but did not resurface.

MALAKOFF, Texas — A Henderson County Sheriff's Office vehicle was hit during a routine traffic stop on the morning of Saturday, September 30, 2023. The patrol unit was on a traffic stop just outside of Malakoff when it was rear-ended by another vehicle, causing the police vehicle to become airborne, police say.

On September 14, 2023, a Lamar County Grand jury returned an indictment on David Brandon Bowlby, a resident of Kaufman county, for the murder of Charles Peck, a resident of Van Zandt county. On March 1, 2023, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a report of a deceased person found in a vehicle parked in a gated area in the 4400 blk of State Highway 24. When Deputies arrived, they found 58-year-old Peck deceased from gunshot wounds.
