Restaurants take hit during brilliant Brewers' run
Good morning, Earlier this week, I wrote a story about how, in the midst of the Brewers' historic postseason success , local restaurants have been struggling . (Full disclosure: I'm writing this the afternoon before Game 5 , so my biggest hope is that, as you're reading this, we're all celebrating a World Series championship.) I spoke with owners of typically bustling spots including Birch , CASSIS , Odd Duck , Maxie's , Nakama , Screaming Tuna , Story Hill BKC and Ca'Lucchenzo . And they all reported that, while they and their staff couldn't be more excited for this thrilling Brewers' run, their restaurants are taking a noticeable hit in the process. Local sports bars may be flooded with customers for each game, but at traditional restaurants, tables sit empty. And with the uncertainty of how many games this series will last, reservations haven't exactly been pouring in for future game days, either. I shared the story on my Instagram , and more messages from local restaurants poured in, all echoing the sentiments of the owners I spoke with. "It's rough out here in the streets. But go Brewers," said Dan Jacobs of EsterEv , DanDan and "Top Chef"

Past the slot machines and the crowds sits a dining room where Native American art shares the spotlight with thick cuts, big steak specials, and a Sunday deal that regulars plan their weekends around.

The 6 Milwaukee-Area, Wisconsin Italian Restaurants Where Family Recipes Take Center Stage
One Milwaukee kitchen carries on Italian recipes brought over by the owner’s family. I love that a sauce can cross an ocean and still end up on a dinner plate in Wisconsin. That story is not a one-off around here. Another spot serves recipes passed down through generations, and one even puts the words original recipes right in its name.
