LYNWOOD (CNS) - A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the Long Beach (710) Freeway Thursday in Lynwood.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at around 1:15 a.m. to the southbound 710 Freeway and Imperial Highway where they found one person in one of the freeway lanes after being ejected from one of the several vehicles at the scene, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.

According to the CHP, witnesses said a black Jeep might have hit the freeway's center divider and multiple vehicles, including a silver Mini Cooper, and sustained significant damage.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured woman, who died at the scene.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were closed in the area while the CHP investigated the crash. One lane was reopened about 2 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about 5 a.m., the CHP reported.
