MLK Jr. Rec Center Rebuild Progress
PANAMA CITY, FL- Panama City’s beloved MLK Jr. Recreation Center is currently being rebuilt following its destruction from Hurricane Michael in 2018. A groundbreaking ceremony was held in February 2024 to celebrate the beginning of the construction project. On April 30, 2024, the building permit was issued for the center. Since then, many on-site projects have been completed and are currently underway.

Thursday Night Storm Forecast
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - It’s going to be a very warm & humid night in NWFL as we watch for strong to severe storms that will develop west of our area. Those storms will move into NWFL as early as 3am CT and move east. The storms should be mostly gone by 8am CT. The storms will be strongest near I-10 and the primary threat will be damaging wind although isolated tornadoes and some hail can not be ruled out. There will be storms possible near the coast, but it is not a guarantee. Rainfall amounts will be 1-2″ inland and 0-.5″ near the coast. After the AM storms there may be a final round of showers/storms late AM early PM. After that... the sun returns and the humidity drops.

PANAMA CITY, FL. (WMBB-TV) — Showers and storms finally start to clear up this evening. High pressure settles in this weekend before another of storms works in next week. This evening some showers still across the area, but rain coverage not as high for tonight. Around 20 to 30 percent tonight areawide. Temperatures already cooling thanks to rain today and winds out of the west northwest. Lows tonight will be in the low 60s for our inland locations and mid 60s for the coastline.
