Berlin resident sounds alarm after discovering wildfire in the woods behind his home
Fifteen departments from New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont have been hard at work battling what is now a more than 50 acre wild fire. The fire has spread across the state line into Massachusetts, and it all started on Mattison Hollow Road in Berlin, near the Taconic Crest Trail. The resident who first found the fire, James Fosburgh, tells us that he and his wife woke up to smoke coming from the hill behind their home. He says that's when they began their hike to try and help.

Here’s the part of your recent article about the high risk of wildfires in Plymouth that jumped out at me: “Normally, an average of 15 wildfires are reported statewide in October, according to the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services. This year, there were about 200.” Shockingly, that’s an increase of over 1,233%.

Foliage weather continues, chilly temps with sunshine
After a superb weekend with peak foliage, we’re on track to keep the streak alive with a string of sunny days through the workweek. Today sees us peak in the low 70s as a mild southwest breeze comes in ahead of a (mostly) dry cold front. As its name implies, the cooler air will drop down on us tomorrow and continue into Wednesday.
