Man identified in fatal East Lubbock crash on Sunday night

A man died in Lubbock Sunday night, after a vehicle struck a pedestrian in East Lubbock, according to a police news release.

About 9:45 p.m. Sunday, June 4, police arrived in the 1800 block of Parkway Drive to a reported vehicle crash with a pedestrian. Officers found Rickey Morrison, 60, with serious injuries. He was transported to UMC, where he was pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation stated that Morrison was walking north in the roadway and was struck by a westbound passenger car in the right lane.

No charges have been filed in the case at this time, as the investigation is ongoing.

This was the second reported fatal crash involving a pedestrian over the weekend, the first of which killed Jamie Cardenas, 50, on Friday.
