It's no secret that Virginia will be bolstering its roster with multiple additions from the transfer portal this offseason, as the Cavaliers have lost a staggering eight scholarship players from this past season's roster. Tony Bennett and his coaching staff are patiently keeping track of the hundreds of players around the country who have entered the portal in the last few weeks and have made contact with several potential targets.

Texas Tech freshman forward Robert Jennings has emerged as a possible candidate for a transfer to Virginia, as he included the Cavaliers in his top five along with Utah, Texas Tech, St. Louis, and Maryland, as reported by The Athletic's Tobias Bass on Saturday.

The UVA coaching staff pursued Jennings during his high school recruitment before he ultimately chose to commit to the Red Raiders. A 6'7" forward from Desoto, Texas, Jennings appeared in 30 games with four starts as a true freshman this season, although he played just 8.7 minutes per game, averaging 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Jennings entered the transfer portal at the end of the season as Texas Tech went through a coaching change with Mark Adams being replaced by North Texas head coach Grant McCasland.

Jennings has kept open the option of returning to Lubbock next season, including Texas Tech in his top five along with Virginia, Utah, St. Louis, and Maryland. Tony Bennett completed a zoom meeting with Jennings last week and according to a report from Houston Wilson of Cavs Corner, Jennings felt the call went well and is looking forward to further conversations with the UVA coaching staff. No reports have indicated whether Jennings has scheduled any official visits to any of the schools he is considering.

On3 rates Jennings as the No. 17 power forward in the transfer portal. Jennings has three years of eligibility remaining.
