1 drowned after driving into flooded road in Bollinger County

BOLLINGER COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – One person drowned Saturday night after driving in a flooded road in Bollinger County.

Debbie L. Barks, 70, of Lowndes was driving a 2005 Ford Expedition on Route H two miles north of Zalma at Perkins Creek on Saturday around 8:42 p.m.

She drove into a flooded section of the road and was unable to leave the vehicle, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jackson Fire Rescue and other members of the Homeland Security Response Team (HSRT) were deployed to Bollinger County for a vehicle, single occupant, water rescue/recovery.

Team members worked with the Bollinger County Sheriff’s Office, local volunteer fire departments and Missouri State Highway Patrol late into the evening.

Jackson Fire Rescue Swift Water Techs, Cape Girardeau Fire Department Dive Team and Boat 3 were used in the HSRT response.
