A Lowndes woman died Saturday evening after her car was swept into flood waters in southern Missouri.

Debbie L. Barks, 70, drove into a flooded section of a roadway on Route H, two miles north of Zalma at Perkins Creek.
She was unable to exit her Ford Expedition, and she drowned, a Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report stated.
Her car will remain at the scene in Bollinger County until the flood waters recede.

This is the second drowning in 2023 for Troop E. The troop was assisted by Jackson County Fire and Rescue, Woodland Fire, Cape Girardeau City Fire and Bollinger County Sheriff's Department.
