Police arrest Valley Patriot publisher for violating restraining order
METHUEN — Thomas Duggan, owner and publisher of the Valley Patriot, was arrested over the weekend for the violation of a restraining order. Duggan, of North Andover, was charged Saturday night around midnight for violating an abuse protection order issued against him April 2. Following his arrest, Duggan remained in custody over the weekend, according to the Methuen Police Department. The circumstances surrounding why the order was put in place are unclear at this time.
Dozens of free trees planted to make Medford greener and healthier
MEDFORD - An organization in Massachusetts is hoping to make their city a bit greener by giving out free trees.Trees Medford is offering free trees to residents in Medford thanks to a grant from the Mystic River Watershed Association.Amanda Bowen, the co-chair of Trees Medford, said they've planted maples, oaks, birches and a lot of redbuds this month.The 7-to-10-foot tall trees were delivered in an effort to keep urban areas green and help reduce summer heat. Bowen said the grant is part of an initiative to plant more trees in highly populated areas beginning to lose their tree cover. ...

New Hampshire Board of Medicine issues cease and desist against diaper spa owner
ATKINSON, N.H. — The New Hampshire Board of Medicine has issued a cease and desist order against the woman behind a controversial "diaper spa" in Atkinson. Board members ordered Colleen Murphy to stop advertising herself as practicing medicine in New Hampshire, as being qualified to practice medicine in New Hampshire and/or calling herself a New Hampshire physician. Further, the board "may maintain an action to enjoin" Murphy from continuing to do "acts of unlawful practice."

Director Elisabeth Parrott of the Lowell Vet Center emphasized that veterans coming through the door of the Lowell Vet Center have entered a judgement free zone. Kane could hear in Elisabeth’s voice that she meant what she said, and he thought this is the key component, veterans seeking services could be themselves in this space. Elisabeth oversees a staff of seven clinicians. Unlike a community health center clinicians at the vet center are knowledgeable of military terminology and lifestyle. This is a community where our very important military community members may participate in individual, family, or group support.
Town tightens kayak rack regulations
ANDOVER — A first-responders’ search last winter has led to new canoe and kayak rack regulations. It is still unknown where an empty kayak adrift in the Shawsheen River came from on Jan. 11, but according to Director of Conservation Bob Douglas, high waters had pulled a few kayaks and canoes off a rack near Abbott Bridge.
