Mustangs excel at Yellowstone Conference meet
There was some exciting school record-breaking by Lovell Mustang athletes at the Yellowstone Conference Track and Field meet in Thermopolis Saturday including sixth grader Bradley Mickelson in the high jump with a jump of 5-0. Morgan Harshman, a seventh-grade Lady Mustang, broke the shot-put record, throwing 29-10.50 to place first in the seventh-grade division. Placing first, eighth grader Hunter Krei broke the school record in the 200-meter dash, running a time of 23.98. Avery Walker broke the triple jump record, placing first in the girls eighth-grade division with a jump of 34-8.

Elementary netters compete in Billings
Greybull’s newest club sports team attended its first official tournament in Billings, Mont., last weekend, the 10th annual Big Sky Volleyfest Super Regional. First started with 63 teams, the Super Regional has grown. This year saw 236 teams spread over 32 courts in seven locations. The Magic City was bustling with volleyball energy including athletes and fans clad in Buff blue and gold.
Boys relay team hits its target
Needed a 48.05, ran a 48.05 to AQ at the Bobcat Invite. A meet in Thermopolis Friday afternoon offered Greybull High School track and field athletes one last chance to automatically qualify for state competition — and Carter Peasley, Daniel Baker, Caiden Sorenson and Jesse Brown took full advantage of it.

Burlington track gearing up for regional
The Burlington Huskies joined 23 other teams at the Bobcat Invitational in Thermopolis on Friday. The Lady Huskies placed eighth in the overall team competition and the Huskies placed sixth. “This is always one of our most enjoyable meets,” said Coach Ryan Olson. “Most teams consider it ‘pre-regionals,’ as we try to narrow down the events that our athletes will be doing in Shoshoni this weekend. A lot of teams are there, including some 1A teams from the south that we haven’t seen this year.”
Burlington trap team retains fourth in conference
Burlington had another strong week in the 2nd week of competition shooting, despite the gusty spring winds. “Everyone shot well,” said Coach Nate Kreider. “Scores were not as high as last week for some, but they were all solid scores. Weather always plays a part in how well things go. There is always something new for the athletes to adjust to and overcome.
Benefit roping event in Cowley draws big crowd
A benefit roping event for Billy Slabbert, a 4-year-old Cowley boy with cerebral palsy, attracted more than 120 teams. The more than $20,000 raised at the event will pay for much needed and very specialized medical based physical therapy that Slabbert, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at three months old, desperately needs.
