Scottie Scheffler has arrived at Valhalla Golf Club for the second round of the PGA Championship after being arrested on early Friday morning. He currently faces multiple charges stemming from the incident.

According to ESPN, the PGA is working closely with the City of Louisville to get things sorted out.

In the meantime, a local attorney hired on Scheffler’s behalf is back at the police station to gather all of the details after getting an early, unexpected call for the most highly-scrutinized legal case in the country at this current point in time. Steve Romines is considered to be one of the best lawyers in the area.

Scheffler was charged with 2nd degree assault of of a police officer, 3rd degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. Romines revealed that the assault charge is actually a felony. He remains confident that his new client will be just fine.

Here is his account of what occurred outside of the Golf Club:

Scheffler was handcuffed by unknowing police and was put in an orange jumpsuit to pose for a mug shot upon arrival to a local jail. Not too long thereafter, he was released and allowed to return to Valhalla ahead of his tee time.

Scottie Scheffler returned from jail.

Upon arrival, Smith asked him for comment. All he said was: “Love you, Marty” with a grin.

Scheffler is scheduled to attend Jefferson District Court on May 21.

According to Romines, one police officer directed the golfer to go around an accident that occurred outside of the entrance to the golf club. The arresting officer was unaware and stopped the golfer.

A source told WDRB that Scheffler refused to stop when ordered to do so by a police officer. The officer allegedly suffered minor injuries when he continued to drive.

Romines described that telling of the story as “false.” He also said that there are “eyewitnesses that [Scheffler] did nothing wrong.”

The No. 1 golfer in the world echoed his lawyer’s statement to Jeff Darlington of ESPN and expressed remorse. Scheffler also offered his condolences.

This morning, I was proceeding as directed by police officers. It was a very chaotic situation, understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier, and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do. I never intended to disregard any of the instructions. I’m hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today.

Of course, all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who passed away in the earlier accident this morning. It truly puts everything in perspective.
