Man dead after being shot, crashing car into pool in Kentucky

NEIGHBORS. RANDALL, WHAT’S THE LATEST? WELL, VICKI, THIS IS A MOST UNUSUAL CRIME SCENE OUT HERE. LMPD OFFICERS WE’VE BEEN TALKING WITH SAY THEY’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT WE’VE GOT HERE. AND WE’LL START IN THE CLUBHOUSE AREA. IN FRONT OF THAT IS A MANGLED FENCE. THAT’S WHERE A CAR SMASHED THROUGH THE FENCE AND WENT INTO THE POOL. AS YOU CAN SEE, A VERY LARGE EXTRACTION EFFORT IS NOW UNDERWAY TO GET THAT CAR OUT OF THE POOL. LET’S TAKE A LOOK NOW FROM WLKY CHOPPER HD. AND HERE’S HOW IT ALL STARTED. LOUISVILLE METRO POLICE SAY AROUND 230 THIS AFTERNOON, A MAN WAS SHOT AFTER BEING HIT. HE APPARENTLY TRIED TO DRIVE AWAY ON COOPER CHAPEL ROAD, VEERED OFF AND INTO THE POOL HERE AT THE CROSSING TOWNHOMES. A SHORT TIME AGO, WE TALKED WITH A WOMAN WHO LIVES HERE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. I CAME OUT OF MY CONDO AFTER MY NEIGHBOR ALERTED ME AND HE SAID THERE’S A CAR IN THE POOL. AND I CAME OUT HERE AND LOOKED AND SURE ENOUGH, THERE WAS A CAR IN THE POOL. THE FENCE IS ALL TORE UP WHERE HE CAME INTO THE POOL FROM THE ROAD WHERE THERE HAS BEEN A SHOOTING. AND AS I UNDERSTAND IT, HE WAS HURT VERY SERIOUSLY AND HAS PASSED AWAY. AND THANK GOD THERE WAS NOT ANY PEOPLE IN THAT POOL. I’M SO HAPPY THAT, YOU KNOW, NO ONE ELSE WAS HURT AND LMPD HAS CONFIRMED THE MAN WHO DROVE INTO THE POOL DIED FROM HIS INJURIES AS THE WOMAN WHO LIVES HERE JUST SAID, IT IS AN AMAZING STROKE OF GOOD LUCK THAT NO ONE WAS IN THE POOL AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. Louisville Metro Police Department says a man is dead after a shooting that ended in a crash in south Louisville.LMPD received calls of a shooting in the 6500 block of Brook Bend Way around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers found a man who had been shot when they arrived to that location. Police said the man was shot, drove down Cooper Chapel Road and then crashed into a pool at The Crossing at Cooper Chapel.No people were in or around the pool at the time of the crash, police said.The man was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, police said.Watch aerials from the scene in the player below:They are still working to determine if the man was shot before or while he was in his car.LMPD's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation.
