Police investigating shooting in St. Matthews neighborhood

Police shut down part of the Watterson Expressway as part of the investigation. The expressway was closed for about two hours.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The part of the Watterson Expressway that police shut down for their investigation is back open according to officials.

Louisville Metro Police is investigating a shooting that happened in the St. Matthews neighborhood on Wednesday.

Police said they got the call of a possible shooting on the Watterson Expressway around 8 p.m.

Officers then went to the 3900 block of Dupont Circle on reports of a man shot according to police.

The man had been shot several times and was transported to the hospital, but police said he is expected to survive.

During the investigation, police shut down the Watterson at Breckenridge Lane because they said they believe the two calls are related. The expressway was closed for about two hours.

There are currently no suspects according to LMPD. Anyone with information is asked to call their anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD (5673) or use their online tip portal.

Emergency Services said traffic was being diverted onto I-64.
