A small dog has been reunited with his owner after an unforeseen movie-like event in Los Banos on Thursday.

According to a family member, “Porter” was taking a ride on the back of a scooter when a large bird swooped in and grabbed the dog.

The scooter, being ridden by the dog’s owner, who is handicapped had no other choice but to watch his service dog be flown away.

"He felt something kind of nudge his back forward and he turned around and the dog was gone," said Rose Carter, the owner's sister.

"It was either a hawk or an eagle he's not sure," said Carter. "But it was like Jeepers Creepers, the dog was in the clutches and they were flying away."

As all hope seemed lost, someone who happened to live nearby posted on social media that they had found a lost dog.

Turns out Porter, survived the bird attack and was dropped a short distance later. The funny thing is --this pup was wearing a leather vest and protective gear during the scooter ride.

The family credits the vest and helmet as it served as a barrier against the bird's sharp claws. According to the family, both the vest and the helmet had claw marks all over them.

Through that social media post, this rightful owner was located and this pup was returned on Friday.

Porter is one lucky dog who might be looking up the next time they go for a ride.
