The Los Angeles Lakers' search for a new head coach continues after the early-May firing of second-year skipper Darvin Ham.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania this Friday, a 'frontrunner' to be Ham's successor in L.A. has now been identified.

And it might not come as a surprise to Lakers fans.

During a segment on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania reported that longtime NBA guard JJ Redick has become the frontrunner for the Lakers' head coach opening.

"JJ Redick is officially the frontrunner for the Lakers’ head coach opening, per @ShamsCharania on @PatMcAfeeShow. Redick, who has never coached before, appears likely to take over in Los Angeles leading LeBron James and Anthony Davis," ForbesSports' Evan Sidery posted.

Redick, 39, has never held an NBA head coaching position.

With that said, he played 15 years in the league from 2006 to 2021 and has seemingly built a strong relationship with Lakers' star LeBron James in recent months. Redick and James co-host the Mind the Game podcast, which debuted earlier this year.

Could you see JJ Redick as the next head coach of the Lakers?
