Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller is progressing from the right shoulder injury that has sidelined him since April 10. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters, including MLB.com’s Juan Toribio, that Miller will throw two simulated innings at Camelback Ranch on Wednesday.

Toribio shared the news via Twitter/X:

Although Roberts did not update beat reporters on the final outcome, it appears Miller did more than throw a simulated game. He faced live hitters on the minor league side of Camelback Ranch, as shown in this video from Bruce Kuntz on Twitter/X:

Miller, 25, could progress to throwing a three-inning sim game or beginning a rehab assignment with one of the Dodgers’ minor league affiliates next. No matter how good or bad it goes, it might take some time for the Illinois native to get back on a big league mound. It is likely Miller will require multiple appearances in the minors as he ramps up for a starter’s workload.

Miller started the season on a strong note, throwing six phenomenal innings against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 29. He allowed only two hits and one walk and struck out 11 batters on 93 pitches.

However, following that incredible start, he looked like a shell of himself, and it was evident something was wrong. In his two starts in April, Miller recorded an 11.12 ERA (seven earned runs in 5.2 innings), and allowed nine hits including two home runs. Opponents hit .375 against him.

A couple days after his start against the Minnesota Twins, Miller was placed on the 15-day IL and has not pitched since. It’s been a tough go around for the L.A. arms on the injury side of things in 2024. Nonetheless, it’s only a matter of time before the 25-year-old is back on that big league mound.
