A pedestrian was crossing east on Western Avenue, south of Washington Boulevard outside a crosswalk around 1:45 a.m., when he was struck by a black pickup truck traveling southbound on Western Avenue, according to the LAPD in a news release of the incident.

“The driver of the pickup truck continued south on Western Avenue. A second vehicle, also traveling south on Western Avenue, may have collided with the pedestrian while he was laying on the roadway. Both drivers failed to remain at scene, identify themselves, or render aid to the pedestrian as required by law,” stated the LAPD release.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and immediately began lifesaving techniques in an effort to save the pedestrian. Ultimately, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact West Traffic Detectives, at (213) 473-0234. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).
