Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Gives Thoughts On Recent Hot Streak

As the Los Angeles hit the road earlier this week, they were sitting amid a little funk. The Dodgers dropped two of three games against the New York Mets and things seemed a little tough and go.

But fast forward a few games and everything seems alright in Los Angeles. The team is riding a four-game winning streak entering today’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays and the offense is clicking.

“They took down the Blue Jays by a score of 11-2 yesterday and will look to keep things going today. But manager Dave Roberts praised the bottom of the order for getting things going a little bit and guys breaking out of hitting slumps for this recent hot steak.“I’m managing a lot better these last fives games,” Roberts joked. “Baseball is cyclical. Obviously those top two guys have all year been swinging the bat well. Freddie (Freeman) was in a funk before this win streak, and he’s come out of that certainly. Teo (Hernandez) is swinging the bat well, so I think that’s been really helpful. And then the bottom part of the order, those guys are really starting to carry themselves.”

Over the last few games, Freeman has broken out of his slump, which has made all the difference. He has six hits and five runs batted in during these four road games so far. The Dodgers star first baseman tweaked some things in his swing and it has shown.

If he can keep this up, Los Angeles will be in a good spot. They need his bat within their lineup so making sure he stays consistent will be crucial.

But it’s the other players like James Outman and Gavin Lux who will push this team even more forward. Los Angeles needs the guys at the bottom of the order to do their part, something they’ve been better at over these few games.

As the Dodgers continue this road trip, they will need the bats to stay hot. After two more games with the Blue Jays, the Dodgers will head to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks for their first regular season meeting since being swept out of the postseason.
