9 injured in multi-car crash involving Metro bus in Leimert Park

At least nine people were hospitalized following a multi-car crash involving a Metro bus in Leimert Park Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.

The crash was reported around 3:40 p.m. in the 3500 block of West 39th Streets, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

It was unclear exactly how many vehicles were involved, but video from the scene showed a silver SUV on its side in the roadway, another vehicle with extensive damage and a Metro bus pulled over to the side of the road.

Firefighters evaluated at least 14 people, including occupants from the bus and other vehicles, official said. According to the LAFD, three people were taken to hospitals in moderate condition, while six others were taken to hospitals in fair condition.

Others evaluated declined to be taken to a hospital. It's unclear how many passengers were on the bus at the time.

Further details on what led up to the crash were not immediately known.
