A new report about the ongoing Shohei Ohtani scandal adds more doubt to his innocence since the millions stolen from him have apparently not been reported to any notable authority.

While Thursday is one of the biggest days on the MLB calendar, Opening Day 2024 still feels secondary to the weird situation going on with Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani and his links to illegal gambling. The current narrative being spun by the team and the Japanese great is that his recently fired interpreter Ippei Mizuhara stole over $4 million from him and used it to pay off an illegal bookmaker.

However, since the news made headlines last week, there has been a great deal of doubt around baseball about how innocent the two-time American League MVP really is. And the fact that MLB has opened an investigation into things shows the league is not completely buying what Ohtani is selling.

Now, there is another major piece of information that will cast more doubt on the Dodgers star’s truthfulness. On Tuesday night, ESPN reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers and Ohtani’s reps have continuously declined comment to the site about which local, federal, or even international authorities they have reported Mizuhara’s shocking theft to.

The outlet reports they have inquired since the news first broke and have consistently been stonewalled by the organization and its top star. Nor have they offered even proof of an official report being filed. ESPN and Front Office Sports both have made inquiries with authorities in Anaheim and Los Angeles, CA where the report would have been filed and neither police department has confirmed being contacted by Ohtani or the team.

For such a large sum of money, and the huge amount of doubt about Shohei Ohtani that has followed, it is shocking that he or the organization would not look to get out in front of the situation to quiet the questions about possible involvement in gambling.
