Ikea makes major change to seven stores and customers will immediately see ‘ordering’ solutions with its ‘new format’

IKEA'S CEO just dropped an announcement that will simplify buying furniture for customers across the country.

Shopping is frustrating for consumers, especially those who schlep across town to find the perfect piece of furniture.

Javier Quiñones, Ikea's CEO, announced the company will soon accommodate more US customers with through a "plan and order" arrangement.

The Swedish furniture retailer also reported its seasonal deals and discounts on certain products.

As homeware needs vary among house dwellers, the furniture giant is working to provide buyers with more say.

In the New Year, seven different Ikea locations in the US will open "plan and order" points for product pickups.

So far, these points are slated to pop up in the following cities:

The Austin plan and order pickup point plans to open in the summer of 2024.

The goal is to increase the brand's reach and convenience, based on a company press release.

Ikea also posted the update to their X account, writing, "Hej neighbors, we’re on the move (again)!"

In another post, the company voiced enthusiasm for curating, "better homes, better lives, a better planet, and a better company."

CEO COMMENTS

Ikea also claimed to make several sustainability strides to reduce environmental harm from furniture production.

These efforts support its mission to become climate-positive by 2030.

"As we look back at the past year, I'm proud of the progress we've made in reducing our environmental impact and keeping affordability and accessibility at the forefront for all our customers," said Javier Quiñones, CEO & chief sustainability officer at Ikea US.

Quiñones expressed excitement over the new plans, which intend to bring, "the joy of Ikea to more hearts and homes."

"Creating a home you love is about to get even simpler for everyone!" he added.

Ikea did not respond immediately to the The U.S. Sun for a comment.

The chain reported $6.3 billion in 2023 sales for goods and services, growing 6.6% from the previous year.

It also implemented reduced prices on hundreds of Ikea products throughout America.

But it doesn't stop there. An online service called As-is also lets Ikea family members browse through gently used products from the comfort of their own couches.

This will help citizens who prioritize home care yet struggle to save money.
