'USC should be considered the frontrunner' to land 4-star wide receiver prospect

Drelon Miller is ranked as the No. 60 player nationally

USC football fans should get to know the name Drelon Miller. The four-star 2024 wide receiver prospect will visit USC next weekend and the Trojans are the current favorites to land him, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.com. One other school is in the picture too though.

"USC should be considered the frontrunner for the four-star receiver from Silsbee, Texas, but Miami just made things a whole lot tougher," Gorney wrote on Tuesday. "Miller absolutely loved his trip to Coral Gables and how he fits in that offense, and now the four-star has a much tougher decision ahead. The longer this goes the more Texas A&M, LSU and others could re-emerge, but right now it looks like a two-horse race between the Trojans and the Hurricanes."

Last month, On3.com logged a prediction that Miller will choose USC. Miller, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 198 pounds, is scheduled to announce his commitment on June 29.

The four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 60 player nationally, according to the 247Sports.com composite. He's the No. 11 wide receiver.

2024 RECRUITING UPDATE

After a big official visit weekend, the Trojans landed five class of 2024 commitments this week.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first player who visited to commit. He announced his decision on Sunday morning. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.

On Monday, four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and four-star Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.

"USC is a powerhouse," Itete said. "They are doing a good job with guys at different positions, and also they're moving to the Big 10 against a lot of big dawgs."
