'Days like Monday make me feel like maybe USC will be an “it” program again'

The Trojans added three blue chip recruits on Monday

USC football had a massive day on the recruiting trail Monday.

The Trojans landed three class of 2024 commits, including two top 100 players on defense in four-star Serra (Gardena, Calif.) cornerback Dakoda Fields and Booker T. Washington (Atlanta) defensive end Kameryn Fountain.

The recruiting wins made national headlines and even led The Athletic's Ari Wasserman to write:

"But what happened Monday? That’s the good stuff. Days like Monday make me feel like maybe USC will be an “it” program again, that it has a real chance of replicating what it was during my childhood under Pete Carroll."

USC'S NEW 2024 COMMITS

The Trojans hosted 12 players on official visits over the weekend and so far, five members of the group have committed.

Three-star Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.) offensive lineman Hayden Treter was the first domino to fall on Sunday morning. Later that day, four-star Clearwater (Fla.) safety Jarvis Boatwright also picked USC.

On Monday, Fields and Fountain committed, but USC still wasn't done. The Trojans secured a verbal pledge from four-star Central Catholic (Modesto, Calif.) offensive lineman Manasse Itete later that day too.

"USC is a powerhouse," Itete said. "They are doing a good job with guys at different positions, and also they're moving to the Big 10 against a lot of big dawgs."

On Monday, the Trojans certainly recruited like a power house giving fans hope of a return to the glory days.

Wasserman finished his article with a warning shot to the rest of the college football world.

"There’s enough time for Riley to sign an elite — and, more importantly — balanced class. There is enough time for USC to prove it can be scary."
