The actress sold her 29-room mansion to the actor back in the '90s.
Cassandra Peterson , the face behind Elvira, was open about the ghosts in the 29-room house she once sold Brad Pitt , but he didn't heed her warnings.
The Elvira , Mistress of the Dark actress sold her Los Angeles home to Pitt in 1994, letting him know ahead of time that she believed the property was haunted, but the World War Z actor showed no fear in the face of the potential spirits.
In fact, he was "very excited" about the prospect, as Peterson revealed in a new interview with People . According to the publication, Pitt bought the home for a mere $1.7 million. Mere, at least, in comparison to the nearly $40 million he raked in for its recent sale.
The home was eerie from the start, according to Peterson—ever since she and her ex-husband moved into the massive property. The couple even "had a priest come in to do an exorcism," she said, after it got to a point where she really didn't know if she could keep living there.
"I've seen people walking around upstairs, for example, real people just walking. One time [a ghost was] sitting downstairs in front of the fireplace, once walking into my bedroom and back out. We saw a person floating around at the bottom of the pool , things like that," she shared. "I know that sounds nutty. I'm Elvira. I know you expect that from me, right?" But she was adamant, "I don't have hallucinations, I wasn't high and I can't explain those things."
So she told Pitt about all of the things they've been experiencing in their time living there. "He thought that was really cool," she said. "...he loved it. I mean, there are not many buyers who that would be a selling point for, but he was like, 'Oh, that's so awesome.' I love that he appreciated the house so much."
The actor has never really addressed the rumors for himself, but his appreciation for the architecture and design was clear to Peterson from the start, and he went on to bring new life to the run-down structure.
The actress bought the property next door and watched as Pitt did "tons and tons of work on it," going on to raise his family there with Angelina Jolie before the couple separated. According to TMZ , he's moving from Los Feliz to Carmel, in Northern California.
