Russell Westbrook Made NBA History In Clippers-Bulls Game
Throughout his entire career, Russell Westbrook has been severely underappreciated as a passer. The now Los Angeles Clippers guard has always been an exceptional playmaker, hence why he holds the NBA record for most triple-doubles ever.
On Monday night against the Chicago Bulls, Westbrook joined some elite company by recording his 400th career 10-assist game.
According to the Clippers, Westbrook became just the ninth player in NBA history to record at least 10 assists in at least 400 games,, joining legends such as John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Magic Johnson and Steve Nash in the NBA record books.
Stockton holds the record for the most games with at least 10 assists in his career with 863 total games.
Westbrook's performance against Chicago helped elevate the Clippers to a 124-112 victory, moving them a half-game behind the 4-seeded Phoenix Suns in the Western Conference. Los Angeles also created a little bit of breathing room for themselves in the 5-seed spot, as they now lead the Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors by a full game.
He may have struggled with the Los Angeles Lakers, but going across Crypto.com Arena to a new locker room, Westbrook has really thrived in his new role with the Clippers.
In 15 games with the Clippers, Russell Westbrook is now averaging 13.9 points, 7.3 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor.
With just six games remaining on their schedule, the Clippers have a chance to avoid the Play-In Tournament altogether. However, they will need Westbrook to continue playing at a high-level to do so, as Los Angeles will be without Paul George for the next couple of weeks due to a right knee sprain.
Russell Westbrook and the Clippers will be back in action on Wednesday night when they go on the road to take on the Memphis Grizzlies.
