Kings extend point streak to 12 with win against Blues

LOS ANGELES --The Los Angeles Kings extended their point streak to a franchise record 12 games with a 7-6 win against the St. Louis Blues at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday.

Viktor Arvidsson had two goals and an assist, Adrian Kempe scored twice, and Phillip Danault had three assists for the Kings (43-20-10), who are 10-0-2 during the point streak and finished a season-long seven-game homestand 5-0-2. Pheonix Copley made 16 saves.
Los Angeles moved two points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for first place in the Pacific Division.
"These games aren't going to happen the rest of the way I don't think," said Kings defenseman Sean Durzi, who had two assists in his return after missing seven games because of an upper-body injury. "It's going to be tight the rest of the year and we got to be able to close it out a little better than we did tonight."
Jordan Kyrou scored twice, and Pavel Buchnevich and Justin Faulk each had a goal and an assist for the Blues (33-34-6), who had their five-game point streak end (4-0-1). Joel Hofer allowed five goals on 17 shots before being replaced by Jordan Binnington, who made 12 saves.
"Sometimes you play good and lose, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that today," Faulk said.
Arvidsson scored 27 seconds into the game to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. He received a pass from Kevin Fiala in the high slot, glided into the left circle, and scored short side through a screen.

Alex Iafallo made it 2-0 at 2:48 with a one-timer off a cross-crease pass from Arvidsson on a power play.
Kempe pushed it to 3-0 at 7:35 with a short-handed goal after Hofer whiffed on his shot from the top of the right circle.
Brandon Saad scored on the same power play to make it 3-1 at 8:04.
Arvidsson made it 4-1 on a power play at 14:30, scoring with a one-timer from below the left circle off a diagonal cross-ice pass from Durzi.
Trevor Moore then scored another power-play goal to extend it to 5-1 at 16:22.
"We were able to get to a young goaltender, and it came real fast," Los Angeles coach Todd McLellan said. "Nothing ever comes easy in this league, but the power play was clicking. Everything felt good, and then we played like it felt good instead of playing our game, and that's when it changed."
Faulk pulled the Blues to within 5-2 at 3:09 of the second period with a slap shot from the right point, and Buchnevich made it 5-3 at 16:05 when he scored blocker side from in front.
Kyrou cut it to 5-4 at 17:35, getting behind the defense and scoring on a breakaway for a power-play goal.
Kempe responded for the Kings to make it 6-4 at 4:37 of the third period. He scored with a one-timer from the high slot following a turnover by Colton Parayko.

Kasperi Kapanen cut it to 6-5 from the right circle at 8:11, but Drew Doughty scored 39 seconds later from the right point on a power play to give the Kings a 7-5 lead.
Los Angeles was 4-for-5 on the power play. St. Louis was 2-for-2.
"You got to win in different ways even when you're not playing your best, which was evident tonight," McLellan said. "The power play came through."
Kyrou made it 7-6 at 19:11 with Binnington pulled for the extra skater.
"Not really into consolation prizes. We were down 5-1," Faulk said. "Generally with three, four-goal games, the other team sits back and the team starts to get chances. It happens the other way, too. … It made it more fun to play than down 5-1 the whole way, that's for sure."
NOTES: Fiala had two assists in his return after missing six games because of a lower-body injury. … Arvidsson has seven points (five goals, two assists) in his past three games. … Kempe has scored an NHL career-high 36 goals in 73 games this season.
