The UCLA Bruins and Gonzaga Bulldogs are facing off in a Sweet 16 game, and Bruins head coach Mick Cronin just did his best impression of Yogi Berra.

Let’s face it, regardless of sport, halftime interviews or interviews between the action can be downright dumb. Many times the interviewer doesn’t really put a lot of thought into the question, or falls back on the “what do you need to do?” or “what did you think of that?”

During the quick halftime interview in this game, UCLA head coach Mick Cronin just blew all our minds.

CBS reporter Lauren Shehadi pulled Cronin aside as the teams were heading into the locker room at the half, and asked, “Coach, that 13-2 run, I loved the balance. What did you love most about it.”

Uh…gee Lauren, I don’t know. That they had a 13-2 run and are leading by 13?

Mick Cronin furrowed his brow and then gave a response with a half smirk.

“When the ball goes in…you become a much better coach” as he pointed towards the rafters in a college professor-type manner.

Mind. Blown. Right? Ball goes in. Points go up. Your acumen as a coach suddenly begins to peak.

Cronin and Shehadi chuckled together and then the coach went into the usual breakdown, so-and-so is playing great, we’re missing some players, we need to do this better, and more of that..yadda yadda yadda.

The veteran coach should have taken a cue from George Costanza and just left on a high note when he had everyone in the palm of his hand.
