Kylie Sweene of Lorain, a Youth and Educational Ministry major, has been named the next recipient of the Frederic D. and Dorothy C. Vechery Christian College Consortium scholarship for the 2022-23 academic year, according to a release.

The award was presented to Sweene by President Gregory Miller, Provost Christina Schnyders, and Professor of Biblical Studies Joel Soza.

The Christian College Consortium provides 13 scholarship awards annually, one to each of the 13 member institutions, to assist senior students with demonstrated financial need in order to reward their academic achievement, leadership, and character.

Mr. and Mrs. Frederic Vechery shared their financial blessings to assist students who have chosen a Christian liberal arts education and are facing financial pressures. Mr. and Mrs. Vechery became acquainted with the Christian College Consortium when their grandson was a student at a Christian university and they created the endowed scholarship fund which is used annually to provide scholarships to the aforementioned member institutions, the release stated.

Financial aid officers oversee the selection process for their respective institutions, and materials are submitted to the Consortium in the fall so that their selections can be made in the spring for the following academic year.
