BEAVER, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, September 21, along U.S. Route 19, approximately 0.1 mile south of the intersection with Airport Road in the Beaver area of Raleigh County.

The checkpoint will be active from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.

The primary goal of the checkpoint is to deter impaired driving and to raise public awareness about the risks and consequences of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Law enforcement hopes the checkpoint will serve as a reminder to motorists about the importance of sober driving.

Authorities are encouraging the public to assist in the effort to prevent impaired driving by reporting intoxicated or drug-impaired drivers to their local West Virginia State Police detachment, Crime Stoppers of West Virginia, or other law enforcement agencies.

The West Virginia State Police remain committed to keeping roadways safe and reducing the number of accidents caused by impaired driving .
