The driver of a 2022 Subaru WRX was traveling southbound when they attempted to pass a slower-moving vehicle in a designated passing zone.

During the maneuver, the driver struck a bicyclist, identified as 19-year-old Damion Workman, who was riding northbound.

After hitting the bicyclist, the Subaru veered off the road and overturned in a large drainage ditch.

The driver managed to escape the wreckage without injury.

Emergency responders from the Beaver Volunteer Fire Department, Jan-Care Ambulance, and Ghent EMS arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, Workman was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the West Virginia State Police crash reconstruction unit, is investigating the collision.

The identity of the Subaru driver has not been released as the investigation continues.

No charges have been filed at this time.

It was only a matter of time before this happened. The addicts are all over the road either walking or on bicycles at all hours of the day and night (mostly at night). The sheriffs department and state police pretty much let them do as they wish.
