Longwood police collecting pet supplies for seniors in need: Here’s how you can help

LONGWOOD, Fla. — The Longwood Police Department is in the final days of its pet supply drive to help seniors in need.

Officers are collecting pet supplies to fill the Seniors Intervention Group (SIG) pet food pantry through May 31.

The Longwood Police Department is in the final days of its pet supply drive to help seniors in need.

Officers are collecting pet supplies to fill the Seniors Intervention Group (SIG) pet food pantry through May 31.

SIG, which is a partnership between first responders and local faith-based and non-profit organizations, is committed to sustaining and improving the quality of life for the growing senior population in Central Florida.

Police said seniors on a budget will often put the needs of their fur family before themselves.

“It is our goal to be sure our local seniors never have to make that choice,” the department said.

The department said Tuesday that they’ve received a good amount of cat supplies during the month-long drive, but are in need of dog and puppy supplies. Particularly the following:

• Pet pads
• Dog food for all dog types (puppies, mature dogs, small dogs, large dogs, all types both canned and dry kibble)
• Dog toys
• Dog treats
• Dog bowls

You can drop off donations at the Longwood Police Department lobby any weekday during the month of May between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
