PINE TREE, Texas (KLTV) -An East Texas business owner, prepping for the days work, was startled as he saw a bleeding man stumbling toward him, begging for help.

It happened in Longview Wednesday morning.

Business owner Christopher Williams was preparing to open his barber shop Wednesday morning when he was taken by surprise by a man coming out of the woods behind his business.

“He came stumbling out of the woods, and I was on the phone, and he knocked on my window and asked for help,” Williams said.

Wanting to help, Williams saw the full scope of what was happening when he stepped out of his truck.

“He’s bleeding. He had a belt tied around his leg. He said he had been shot. I asked him his age, where he was coming from, was he okay? He was responsive,” Williams says.

Longview police were already in the area of Pirate Road investigating a shooting, when the 911 call came in from Williams.

As an initial precaution, the Pine Tree campus close to the location went on lockdown for a short time.

As Williams was trying to help the wounded man, either blood loss or fatigue caused him to collapse right next to his truck.

Police and an evidence van arrived. The victim told police the shooting occurred near Pirate Avenue.

Williams is convinced he was there early for a reason.

“Divine plan. Name of the business, how things are,” he said.

Williams’ business is named ‘Miraculous MVP’.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. At last word, he has non-life threatening injuries.

His name has not been released yet by police.
