Three people were hospitalized and two more were injured Thursday afternoon following a five-car crash along Seventh Street near Cal State Long Beach, authorities said.

It wasn’t immediately clear how the crash happened, but fire officials say they responded around 5:15 p.m. to the area of Seventh Street and Pepper Tree Lane and found five vehicles involved in the collision, including one that had rolled over.

Fire personnel transported three people to a local hospital, though authorities could not comment on their condition. Two more people were treated at the scene for injuries and released, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
