Folks in an around the Long Beach area may have felt a jolt Wednesday evening, as the United States Geological Survey recorded a 2.6-magnitude earthquake roughly 1.24 miles northwest of Signal Hill.

The earthquake, which was recorded at 7:15 p.m., was about 2.85 miles deep, according to preliminary information from the USGS.

The quake on Wednesday evening followed two that were similar in size in the same location early Wednesday morning, according to the Southern California Seismic Network. A 2.0-magnitude earthquake hit about a mile northwest of Signal Hill at 1:54 a.m., and a 2.3-magnitude followed at 2:25 a.m.
