    WOOD-RIDGE, NJ – A four-run fifth inning broke a 1-1 tie as Wood-Ridge defeated Lodi, 5-2 in NJIC Meadowlands boys baseball game on Saturday at the Wood-Ridge Athletic Complex.

    Chance Iacovino started the rally with an infield single, and stole second.  Sal Catanzaro reached on an error.  Following a pop-up for the first out, Jake Wall was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Jacob Metcalfe walked to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead.

    Lucas Mendoza walked to make it 3-1, and after a line out, Chris Castellano was hit by a pitch, scoring Wall for a 4-1 lead. Following a pitching change, Metcalfe scored on a passed ball for a 5-1 lead.

    Michael Marchitelli pitched the final two innings for the save, while Catanzaro picked up the win, going the first five innings, allowing one earned run on six hits.

    Wood-Ridge improved to 9-6 overall, 4-2 in the Meadowlands.   Lodi fell to 4-6 and 2-4 in the Meadowlands with the loss.
