2 men arrested after freeway shooting in Lodi injures driver and his wife
Two men were arrested after a freeway shooting Sunday in Lodi injured a driver and his wife, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Stockton Office.
The 37-year-old Stockton resident was driving on southbound Cherokee Lane around 5:20 p.m. in Lodi with his wife and kids when the car was struck by gunshots, CHP said.
Officials said the suspects were traveling on Highway 99 and may have mistakenly targeted the victim’s vehicle.
The victim was struck during the shooting, losing control of the vehicle resulting in a crash. His wife sustained moderate injuries from the crash, CHP said.
Jared Tavares, 21, was arrested Wednesday in connection with the shooting and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail. Jaycob Coburn-Babcock, 23, was arrested Thursday and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
