Lovely dinner at Bata. It’s been on the bucket list and it did not disappoint. Our favorites in order: 1. malawach (my goodness the flavor) we gobbled up two! 2. Steak (sauce and it was cooked to perfection) 3. Mushroom skewer (sauce A+) 4. Boa bun (great flavour but not the best of the best, still good though) 5. Albacore (decent tuna dish nothing spectacular) 6. Chocolate sorbet dessert (had high hopes for it but was medium good, not bad but not amazing). Husband also ordered the old fashioned - superb cocktail. Overall great experience, our waiter and other wait staff were attentive and awesome. Will return and recommend.

High end. Earthy. Dark. Mix of modern and natural elements and who doesn’t like fire. Every item on the Bata menu has been touch by fire and many ingredients are locally AZ sourced. 🔥🌵 Bata serves familiar dishes without being pretentious, yet has a unique twist that can only be found here. The plates were small and gave us the opportunity to share and taste more. 🍴 We were very satisfied and food was delicious. The food was playfully plated and some dishes too pretty to eat. ✨ I would tell anyone going to dine here to sit at the bar facing into the open concept kitchen. 🙌 You can watch the dishes being prepared throughout your entire meal. The staff is very friendly and will make conversation with your group.🙏 I will be returning to Bata for some more cocktails and dinner next time I visit Tucson.🏜️

Great meal with interesting choices on the menu. Though not a vegetarian was pleasantly surprised with the vegetarian options offered. The kitchen is an eclectic mix of Japanese/korean , Fillipine , Middle Eastern and French concepts and flavours pair with several local ingredients such a squash and beans. We had the tartlet ( good leek flavour) Meatball ( on a fascinating base made from fermented vegetable ), Squash bread , Tartare, Daikon; which proved to be a pleasant surprise. The Tortang with mushroom, red beets and pickled peppers disappointed a bit, probably because the Tortang was a bit thick (or because I am not the biggest Aubergine fan). The smoke/open fire preparation in all dishes was very noticeable yet not overbearing Overall value for money and great choices Service was friendly and efficient.

Came here on a date night and did the Let Us Pick for you option on the menu. The dining space is beautiful, with an open dining rim, with low light around the tables. We were seated at a booth along the window. The kitchen opens to the restaurant space. We came early on a Sunday evening and it was quiet with only a few tables full. Our server DJ was great, attentive and engaged. The food was excellent, every dish was flavorful, touched by the fire and offering great combinations of texture, flavor and color. The Malawach was awesome, buttery and flaky. We shared a bottle of Sparkling Tea, which was a nice N/A option. We both left contented after sharing the dishes within the fixed menu. At the end of the meal, before leaving one of the servers referenced the downstairs bar, which was closed for the evening. However, they took us down to see - looks like a great space with a small food menu and an awesome cocktail list.
