Very bad experience yesterday with Leslie Adrian (Manager for the DTA program). Last Friday when we went for the first time to talk to her, she presented herself as friendly, polite and interested in helping us with our son who requires one-on-one attention. We explained to her the challenges he has, and she said she wanted to meet him because she would be able to know what he would need just by seeing him. We told her that we would be back with him on Tuesday, after the holiday, around 4 pm. We arrived with him, and she started to show him the different rooms, he was very excited and sat in a single sofa in one of the rooms. Then, she asked him if he liked the center, and he signaled “YES”. After that, she took us to their conference room, where my son sat in one of the chairs and started spinning and smiling. He was very comfortable and happy. After that, we were very surprised with her next move. She said, that she wanted to be very “transparent” with us, and told us that in a meeting that apparently happened some time on Friday after 3 pm, she was told that she couldn’t higher any more one-on-one providers. The question is whether it was her decision or someone else’s, why didn’t she call us so that we wouldn’t lose our time with her? BUT the WORST thing she did was to get my son excited about this place when she knew that she wasn’t planning to serve him. I think that the biggest problem for TCH and their DTA manager is that I asked if it would be possible to have a black male as his provider. At this point, I feel like racial discrimination towards his current provider who is African American and who we wanted for our son was the real reason why she didn’t want to accept our son. I noticed this from Leslie’s behavior when he came and I introduced him to her and she didn’t shake his hand and just put her hands in her pants pockets, which was very different than when my husband and I came to TCH to see her the first time.
This place is Amazing. Home of Unique Boutique
This place just feels like home. Everyone is so welcoming and caring. There is so much light in this building and I hope it continues to grow. We are all special and deserving ❤️
Really good at finding the services you or your loved one needs quickly and they're support system is top notch! This business is an outstanding resource for any family that has someone with developmentally disabled needs. Classes, day programs, events, respite care and habilitation services are just the basics!
